Sat Nav will usually take you as far as Lyde Cross at the end of our lane.
Approaching Hereford from: LEDBURY, GLOUCESTER or CHELTENHAM using the A438, then you need to transfer to the A4103 by means of the A417. From what is called Trumpet crossroads take the A417, which will be signed “Leominster”, until the A417 joins the A4103. At this point follow the signs for Hereford (A4103). Now use the directions below as if you are approaching from Worcester.
From WORCESTER direction (A4103) or BROMYARD direction (A465). You will arrive at a roundabout just before Hereford. You need to take the second exit, which is the A4103 and will be signposted to “Hereford Racecourse”. (Do NOT take the Hereford road (A465). This road is called the Roman road, proceed over a hump-back bridge with traffic lights, and then take the first right turn at a crossroads, signed to “Munstone, and Lower Lyde”. This is Munstone Road. Now use notes at the end of this email entitled “The Final Leg”.
From LEOMINSTER direction (A49), Turn left at Lyde Church and Kenchester Water Gardens into Church Road. Follow this lane (see map above) for approx 1.5 miles. At the brow of the hill turn left on the sharp right-hand bend into a private road. Lyde Court is at the end of this private road.
From ROSS, MONMOUTH and ABERGAVENNY. Come into Hereford and cross the river Wye using the large modern bridge. Follow signs through town to Leominster, A49. At some point, you will pass B&Q on the right, and Hereford Racecourse on your left. At the top of this road take a right turn at the large roundabout (3rd exit). You are now on the Roman Road. In half a mile turn left at a small crossroads indicated by the sign to “Munstone and Lower Lyde”. This turning to the left is called Munstone Road. Now use the directions at the end of this email entitled “The Final Leg”.
From KINGTON, HAY and BRECON direction (A438). Come into Hereford on the A438 until you come to traffic lights with “Steels” car showroom on your left. Turn left at this showroom, and stay in the left-hand lane and follow signs for the A49 to Leominster. At some point, you will pass B&Q on the right, and Hereford Racecourse on your left. At the top of this road take a right turn at the large roundabout (3rd exit). You are now on the Roman Road. In half a mile turn left at a small crossroads indicated by the sign to “Munstone and Lower Lyde”. This turning to the left is called Munstone Road. Now use the directions at the end of this email entitled “The Final Leg”.
THE FINAL LEG: Turn into Munstone Road, after a quarter of a mile proceed straight over a crossroads, ignoring Holmer to the left and ignoring Shelwick to the right. Proceed a further half a mile to two nasty bends with warning chevrons. The first bend is to the right, and the second to the left. Do not turn left on the second bend, but carry straight on down a track.
“IF YOU GET LOST” DIRECTIONS. If all else fails head for the centre of Hereford. When you are sure you are somewhere near the centre then follow signs out of Hereford for Leominster using the A49. At some point, you will pass B&Q on the right, and Hereford Racecourse on your left. At the top of this road take a right turn at the large roundabout (3rd exit). You are now on the Roman Road. In half a mile turn left at a small crossroads indicated by the sign to “Munstone and Lower Lyde”.
