Lyde Court is a 17th-century stone barn on the Duchy of Cornwall Estate, two miles from Hereford city centre. Every December, we open the barn to private parties — companies, teams, families and groups of friends, with the option of the whole space to themselves, decorated and ready, with a full evening of food, drink and dancing arranged around them.

The Venue
The Great Barn at Lyde Court is L-shaped across two floors, with mezzanine areas at either end and a dedicated stage and dancefloor. It has hosted events for generations and been changed as little as possible — the elm beams, stone walls, arrow-slit windows and vaulted ceilings are original. In December, it is lit entirely by candlelight and fairy lights, which is something photographers and guests tend to mention unprompted.
The barn holds up to 300 for a seated dinner and evening reception. For Christmas parties, we typically work with groups of 40 to 200. The L-shaped layout means there is always a quieter end for those who want to step away from the music, and an outdoor courtyard and walled garden for some air.

Exclusive use
On the night of your booking, the barn is yours alone. We do not run multiple events simultaneously or use dividing screens. Your guests are not sharing a venue with another company’s party.
No curfew — the bar runs until 2am
Most venues in Herefordshire have an 11pm or midnight close. We do not. The party ends when your group is ready to stop — not before.
A venue with genuine character
The barn has not been significantly renovated in 400 years. The stone walls, elm beams and candlelit windows create an atmosphere that a modern function suite cannot replicate. Several guests have told us it is the best-looking venue they have been to for a Christmas party. We believe them, but we would say that — come and see it.

There is ample on-site parking at no charge for all your guests, with overnight parking available for those staying in the accommodation.
Locally sourced, homemade food
Everything served at Lyde Court is made in-house using Herefordshire suppliers wherever possible. The Christmas dinner is not a bought-in frozen menu — it is prepared fresh for your group. Budget-conscious corporate bookers will also find our pricing competitive with Hereford’s hotel venues for comparable food quality.
On-site accommodation
Guests can stay the night without arranging taxis or designating drivers. This single practical advantage changes the feel of an evening considerably — people relax more when they know they do not have to leave early.

Private Christmas parties at Lyde Court are available for groups of 40 or more. Dates in December fill quickly — most bookings are made between April and September for the following Christmas season. We recommend enquiring as early as possible to secure your preferred date.

Yes. The Oast House, Bridal Suite and three VIP en-suite doubles offer accommodation within the grounds. Camping and caravan hook-ups are also available. Guests who stay over can arrange breakfast the following morning.
