Lyde Court is a 17th-century destination barn wedding venue in Herefordshire, set within the Duchy of Cornwall Estate just two miles from Hereford city centre.

Barn Wedding Venue in Herefordshire

Whether you are planning an intimate celebration for 50 or a full gathering of up to 300, Lyde Court gives you the space, the atmosphere and the freedom to make it entirely your own.

The Venue

The Great Barn at Lyde Court is L-shaped — built, as we like to say, for Love. Set across two floors with mezzanine levels at either end, it is large enough to host 300 guests but intimate enough that a celebration of 50 never feels lost. Stone walls absorb sound and candlelight alike; the arrow-slit windows glow at night; the elm beams overhead have witnessed centuries of celebration.

Minimal renovation over 400 years means the character is entirely genuine. What you see is what has always been there — and what every photographer who visits tells us is their favourite backdrop in Herefordshire.

Ceremony Locations

Lyde Court is fully licensed for civil ceremonies both indoors and outdoors, giving you genuine flexibility on the day.

The 17th Century Stone Barn

Exchange your vows beneath original elm beams, vaulted stone ceilings and the warm flicker of hundreds of candles. The barn holds 300 seated guests for a ceremony and is fully weatherproofed — if plans change, so do we.

The Rose Garden

An outdoor ceremony space surrounded by seasonal planting and open Herefordshire sky. When the sun is out, it is hard to imagine a more naturally beautiful place to say I do.

The Secret Garden

Tucked away from the main barn, this enclosed garden space creates an intimate, almost hidden atmosphere — ideal for smaller gatherings or those who want something a little different.

Front Lawn and Courtyard

Panoramic views across to Dinmore Hill and the Malvern Hills beyond. The front lawn is where most couples choose their confetti moment, and where guests naturally gather for the drinks reception in warmer months.

Why Couples choose Lyde Court

No curfew. No time limits.

Our bar licence runs until 2am and we have no curfew on when the party ends. The barn, the courtyard and the walled garden are yours for the day — and the night.

Everything included — no hidden extras

The barn comes with its own PA system, stage lighting, candles for every window and table, and mismatched vintage furniture. Most venues charge separately for these. We do not.

Locally sourced food at pub prices

We are a free house, which means a wide selection of local ales, Herefordshire ciders, wines and spirits at prices that will not shock your guests. Our menus are built around local suppliers and designed around your budget — from relaxed hog roasts and barbecues to elegant three-course dinners.

Neutral interiors that work with any colour palette

Stone walls and natural timber do not clash with anything. You bring the flowers, the ribbons, the centrepieces — Lyde Court provides a canvas, not a competition.

On-site accommodation for up to 76 guests

The Oast House sleeps up to 58 guests in a mix of family rooms and dormitories. Add the Bridal Suite, three VIP en-suite doubles, plus camping and caravans, and many of your guests can stay the night.

A morning-after wedding breakfast

We can extend your wedding into the following day with a full English breakfast in the barn for your stay-over guests. It is one of our most popular additions — and one most couples wish they had known about sooner.

Food and Drink

Food and drink are at the heart of a great wedding day, and at Lyde Court we have spent years refining how to do it well. Every menu is discussed with you personally to find the right fit for your style and your budget.

Options range from relaxed summer barbecues and Herefordshire hog roasts to elegant three-course sit-down dinners. In the evening, the walled garden and courtyard become an atmospheric extension of the party — perfect for a late-night street food station or a final round at the bar.

We are a free house, which means your guests choose from a genuine range of local ales, Herefordshire ciders and wines rather than a single tied supplier’s list. Bar staff are experienced, friendly and will call a cab when you need one.

Accommodation for You and Your Guests

One of Lyde Court’s most practical advantages is that many of your guests can simply stay over. No arranging minibuses. No worrying about who is driving. No early departures cutting the night short.

The Oast House sleeps up to 58 guests across family rooms and dormitories. The Bridal Suite is yours on the night of your wedding, available from midday. Three further VIP en-suite double rooms are available for the wedding party. Camping pitches and caravan hook-ups are available in the grounds

Lyde Court is also just two miles from Hereford city centre for guests who prefer a hotel, and our local information page lists trusted nearby options.
